What is the HRT Therapy Process?

Your HRT therapy journey starts with the initial physical appointment with our experienced board-certified female practitioner. The appointment includes:

  • New patient intake
  • Physical exam
  • Through discussion of your health and concerns
  • Introduction to HRT and available therapy options
  • Lab order with an option to do all labs right in the office. Your insurance should cover the labs.
  • Please note, we require to have on file your recent mammogram and pap smear for cancer screening in order to provide an hrt treatment. These can be obtained from your gynecologist. If you have no gynecologist or insurance, we can hep you find an affordable ob-gyn office.

The second appointment will be concentrated on reviewing the lab results with you and choosing the right HRT therapy option.

We will then order your hormones and start with the therapy. In case of pellet therapy, our practitioner will skillfully insert the pellets. Most of the HRT options allow easy adjustment of dosages and ingredients based on your body’s needs. You will have the ability to ask unlimited questions via texts or phone call at any moment.

What is Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

If you want to get back the pep in your step that you had in your 20s, then Hormone Replacement Therapy is an option you must consider. Bio-identical hormones are hormones that have the same chemical structure (shape) as the human body. This structure of the bio-identical hormones is what makes a difference when compared to the standard (i.e. synthesized). Bio-identical hormones produce minimal to no side effects and health risks.

Many use the analogy of a lock and key to differentiate bio-identical from synthetic hormones. The hormone is the key, and the receptors they work upon are the locks. The bio-identical hormones were made to fit the lock perfectly and when turned they release all the beneficial effects, but with the synthetic misshapen key, benefits are released along with a number of unwanted side effects.

Whether you prefer the bio-identical or standard hormone replacement therapy, we can offer both options and it’s possible to switch if you choose so in the future.

HRT Options

HRT with Creams and Tablets

The most popular option with non-invasive HRT are creams. An HRT cream allows the right dose of hormones to be absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream to help relieve hot flashes, night sweats, depression and other symptoms of menopause. Other types of HRT, such as pellets, don’t offer the same flexibility. It’s very easy to adjust dosages by performing labs each quarter for the first few quarters and arrive at your perfect hormonal balance.

HRT Cream can be combined with HRT tablets with a specific combination of hormones for fast and precise action. Many women chose a combination of creams, tablets, as well as an HRT vaginal cream to improve the sexual comfort for an overall best effect. Ask our female practitioner for the best option for you.

HRT with Pellets

Pellets are compounded hormones that are made from organic plant materials, which have the exact molecular structure of those hormones found in the body. They are pressed into a solid compound that is about the size of a cooked grain of rice. Using a painless office procedure, they are inserted under the skin. The pellets gradually release small amounts of hormone directly into the bloodstream similar to that which the ovaries produced during our younger adult years.

Why Choosing a Medical Professional for HRT

To say that there are a lot of symptoms of hormonal fluctuation and imbalance is an understatement. These can range from the public and unpleasant to the private and personal, spanning phenomena as varied as:

  • Depression
  • Weight gain
  • Hot flashes
  • Low libido
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue

What’s more, these can interweave and exacerbate each other. Under these conditions, it’s tempting to want a quick fix.

This is certainly the case for women suffering from low levels of estrogen. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms of menopause, perimenopause or other health changes, the effects of low estrogen can be painful, conflict with your daily life, and present serious health implications.

That’s why many women look to over-the-counter natural estrogen cream for relief; it’s fast and easy and looks appealing. After all, these creams are supposedly “natural” and don’t require a prescription — surely that means they’re a safe bet, right?

But, the benefits of natural estrogen cream that you can buy OTC are few and far between. Furthermore, you might be putting yourself at risk by using these poorly regulated medications, particularly if you have certain conditions. Instead, the smart choice is to see a hormone replacement therapy professional who can create a customized and supervised hormone therapy regimen that’s just right for your body.

Causes of Low Estrogen

To examine why it’s so important to have a professional supervise your estrogen therapy, let’s start with one basic question: What causes low estrogen, and how do you know if this condition is affecting you?

Before seeking out any treatment, of course, it is important to know if you need to be treated.

Estrogen is a critical sex hormone involved in a variety of physiological processes in a woman’s body. While best known for its role in reproduction and the menstrual cycle, it also helps regulate cholesterol, protects bone health, affects mood and even influences the look and feel of your skin.

As women age, however, estrogen supply naturally begins to change during perimenopause, and falling estrogen levels eventually lead to menopause, often resulting in symptoms such as:

  • Night sweats
  • Breast tenderness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Low sex drive
  • Hot flashes
  • Mood changes
  • Anxiety

However, low estrogen can also be caused by other events and conditions, including removal of the ovaries; eating disorders, like anorexia and pituitary gland issues; and all can elicit the same symptoms.

If you are experiencing the symptoms of low estrogen, it’s vital to see a health care practitioner who can identify the root causes of those symptoms. After all, many of the symptoms of low estrogen are also symptoms of other health conditions, and it is essential to receive a correct diagnosis before moving forward. If you do have low estrogen, both your immediate symptoms and your long-term health can often be greatly improved by treating the symptoms of estrogen deficiency.
